Who is Hermann: Personality Theory

This theory is called the Thinking Compass or (Hermann’s Scale of Thinking), symbolized by (HBDI, which is an acronym for Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument), and literally means Hermann’s tool for brain control. The creator of this theory is Nad Hermann, an American physicist, artist (and painter) and musician, born in 1922 who worked for General Electric for many years, and led the developmental side in it. He died in 1999.

Hermann Quadruple Model

In 1976 Herman came working with the Administrative Development Department at General Electric, and began thinking about how this research on the brain can be invested so that it can be used to serve human development and understand human behavior and influence it, and develop means to determine whether it is likely to be for different people Preferences of thinking patterns can be measured, and he succeeded in what he aimed after after work, effort and research during more than twenty years by many scientists and researchers in universities and research centers that cooperated with him and the group he founded for this to develop the theory and support and market it.

Herman began studying Sperry and McLean. The discovery of Sperry, who says there are two sides to the brain:

Right brain: Responsible for emotion

The left brain: responsible for thinking

The discovery of McLean, who says there are three brains in a human being

The mental brain: includes thinking, visualization, learning

Mammalian brain: feeling, sensory skills, smell, taste, excitement

Reptile brain: biological needs, food and drink, safety and security, sex

Hermann’s Quadruple Scale Sperry + McLean = Hermann scale

The validity of Hermann’s theory

More than 60 doctoral theses dealt with the Hermann scale.

More than 100 scientific articles published on the Hermann scale.

β€’ It is used by major international companies such as: IBM, Coca-Cola, Intel, Motorola, US Army, University of Texas, …
